How to Use Captain Wicked’s Setup Steps to Set Up Your New Wicked Reports Account

Quickly setup Wicked Reports marketing attribution software and tracking using Captain Wicked's Setup Steps.

Overview

For Wicked Reports to properly track and attribute your marketing data, we need to be connected to your contact and order sources, as well as your Facebook and Google Ads accounts.

Wicked Reports can only attribute a lead or sale if we receive the contact and/or order from your CRM/order system so authorizing these systems is an important part of the setup process.

 

The Set Up Steps are necessary for your account to be set up to track marketing data accurately. Using Captain Wicked's Set Up Steps, each step can go wicked fast or take time, depending on your situation.

  1. Book your Wicked Success Set Up Call
  2. Install the Wicked Tracking Code
  3. Connect your Shopping Cart
  4. Connect your CRM
  5. Connect your Google Ad Account(s)
  6. Connect your Facebook Ad Account(s)
  7. Track Other Marketing Channels
  8. Track Other Funnels

Book your Wicked Success Set Up Call

The first step of your set up is booking your Wicked Success Set Up Call.  In this call, a Wicked Reports Customer Success Specialist will meet you wherever you are in the setup process and expedite. 

You should have received an email with your Customer Success Specialist's scheduling link. If you cannot find it, please email support@wickedreports.com.

Install the Wicked Tracking Code

Copy your unique tracking code here, and place it on ALL of your landing pages, checkout pages, email capture forms, websites, and blogs. Click here for additional instructions.


 

Have Shopify? Shopify stores will be auto-tagged with your unique tracking code after you connect Shopify to Wicked Reports in Captain Wicked's next setup step.


Next, go to Tracking Tools > Tracking Validation to validate that your pages are tracking properly.

Use the Tracking Validation tool to verify tracking on your landing pages, checkout pages, email capture forms, websites, and blogs.

Connect Your Shopping Cart

Choose the software that hosts your Shopping Cart (ex: Shopify) OR processes your transactions (ex: Stripe) from the list and click "Connect", and then follow the integration steps.


Why?
 The Wicked Reports' Order System integrations ensure that your sales conversions are real and the conversion values are accurate by pulling data directly from the source.

Note: If neither your shopping cart nor order processing software are included here, this information can be sent to Wicked using ZapierHTTP Post, or an API.

Connect your CRM

    Choose your CRM or contact source from the list, and then follow the integration steps.


    Why?
     The Wicked Reports' CRM integrations ensure that your lead conversions are real, verifiable, and trustworthy by pulling the data directly from the source.

    Note: If your CRM or contact source is not included here, this information can be sent to Wicked using ZapierHTTP Post, or an API.


    If you connected HubSpotActiveCampaignMailChimp, or AWeber, your emails will be auto-tagged with UTMs.

    If you connected Klaviyo, go here to enable auto-tagging.

    Otherwise, you'll need to manually tag all emails with UTMs. Click here for further instructions.

    Once this step is complete, your contact data will begin to populate inside of Wicked the next morning, around 1 am UTC. Within 1-2 days, Customer LTV Insights will be unlocked in the Cohort reports.

    Connect Google Ad Account(s)

    Click "Connect" and follow the steps to connect the associated Google Ad Account(s). Further instructions here.

    Note: You will need to be an admin on the Google Ad Account(s).

     

    Why? Wicked Reports needs to connect to your Google Ads account to add tracking to your ads and import costs from Google Ads.

    Once your Google Ads account is connected, follow these instructions to ensure that there isn't tracking below the account level.

     

    Why? The Wicked Tracking Template is automatically placed in your Google Ads Account Settings > Tracking Template section to ensure proper tagging. Any tracking below the account level settings overrides these settings and will not properly track your campaigns.

     

    Once this integration is complete, your Google Ads will begin tracking and attributing!  Attribution insights can take 1-2 weeks for full value. Start with customer LTV insights using the Cohort reports and using the Last Click ROI analysis on the ROI report.

    Connect Facebook Account(s)

    Click "Connect" and follow the steps to connect the associated Facebook Ad Account(s). Further instructions here.

    Note: You will need to be an admin on the Facebook Business Manager and the Facebook Business Page.


    Why?
    Connecting your Facebook ad account to Wicked Reports will allow us to import costs and auto-tag ad links for easy and accurate tracking.

    Once this integration is complete, your Facebook Ads will begin tracking and attributing!  Attribution insights can take 1-2 weeks for full value. Start with customer LTV insights using the Cohort reports and using the Last Click ROI analysis on the ROI report.

    Track Other Marketing Channels


    Add UTMs to your other paid marketing channels (note: Facebook and Google are automatically tagged).

    Some common channels with specific instructions include:

    Now we'll go to Tracking Tools > Other Marketing Costs to upload the costs associated with these other marketing channels

    Note: Facebook and Google costs are automatically pulled into Wicked for you.



    Inside of this report, you can drag & drop a CSV file containing your other marketing costs here. Further instructions here.

    You can also click the + Create Marketing Cost button and enter the other marketing costs individually.

    Track Other Marketing Funnels

    If you are a pure e-commerce brand, you can likely skip this step.


    If your funnel contains one of the following, you should continue for setup guidance:

    • booked appointments
    • phone calls
    • webinars

    If your funnel takes customers to a page that is not on your website or embedded in your website to book calls/appointments, we will need to ensure that we are able to track the email capture.

    Note: You must collect emails in order to track phone calls in Wicked.

    Summary


    The Wicked Reports Success Steps are fast but thorough.  Customers with our native integrations advertising on Facebook & Google can get setup very fast.  Customers with custom CRMs or non-native shopping carts will take longer to setup.

    Once you complete the setup process, keep a daily eye on your attribution health indicators.

    While attribution health is accumulating, dive into the insights from our Cohort and Customer Lifetime Value reporting.
