I Cannot Add Custom Scripts To My Checkout Page, What Should I Do?

When it comes to tracking sales data, one of the key aspects of Wicked Reports is our ability to know exactly who clicked what before they placed an order.

Part of setting up Wicked Reports and beginning to get all the valuable data it provides, is adding the Wicked Tracking Code to your website and all its pages. This includes all Shopping Cart and Checkout pages.

In most carts, you will have an input field when setting it up where you can add custom HTML. For these carts, simply putting your Wicked Report Tracking Code in this area allows for us to pull all necessary information when users are shopping on your site.

There are a few shopping carts which do not provide this functionality but we have a workaround for:

If you use a different shopping cart, and it will not allow you to add our Tracking Script to your Checkout page, what does this mean for you?

There are a few options that can be implemented to work around this issue.

Option 1

If our Wicked Reports Tracking Code is on the order Thank You page and you can pass the customer’s email address in the URL to the Thank You page, we can track it.

Option 2

If you have a skilled developer on your team, you may be able to work around this issue as well. It will require a new script created by your team which runs prior to the Wicked Tracking code and will somehow grab the email address of the customer and place it in a hidden form field. Then when the Wicked Tracking Code runs afterward, we will track it.

If you don’t have a skilled developer or these simply are not options for your cart, you will miss out on some of the Wicked Reports functionality.  You will likely lose Last Click Attribution for your data.
